Richard Elias Mission Library Expansion
Richard Elias Mission Library Expansion
Tucson, Arizona
The Richard Elías-Mission Library addition and renovation project will be vibrant, functional, and safe for its diverse community members and families. The addition will add 4,700 sf. of space to the existing 10,600 sf. library. The library was recently dedicated to the late Richard Elías, a former Pima County Board of Supervisors Chairman, advocate for the most vulnerable families in the community, and steady supporter of the Pima County Public Library. The new Richard Elías-Mission Library will honor its name’s sake and embody the values which Mr. Elías stood for: inclusion, diversity, and activism.
To better serve surrounding neighborhoods, major additions such as a children’s area, a story time room, study rooms, and a maker’s space are added to the existing library. To improve the experience of the staff workers, major additions are provided to the staff workspace. This project aims to revitalize the library, providing many services to its residents who previously did not have access to amenities.
