The renovation of the University of Arizona’s College of Education Student Services is focused on delivering a more functional work environment for staff and students. The original space, designed in 1963, no longer functioned efficiently and was completely remodeled to provide an open, welcoming, and collaborative atmosphere for students, staff, and visitors.
Located on the ground floor of the College’s main building, administration uses the space to assist the college’s student advising and scheduling. The space is open to students during the day and utilized as an after-hours workspace for graduate students to collaborate and study.
The 2,400 square foot space includes a new reception desk, private offices and open workspace, meeting rooms, a kitchenette, laptop bar, and lounge areas. The design removes the original maze of plaster walls to open the space and allow in natural light from the windows along the north. New glass partitions and light-colored ceiling baffles contribute to the bright, open feel, while providing visual connection between users.
A new glass wall in the north facade opens the space to an outdoor patio which provides a shaded workspace for students and staff, while also functioning as a larger space for gatherings and presentations.
